Middle School Computers
Middle School Computer is designed for students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Building upon the computer skills they have learned in the previous years, the students will learn word processing, spreadsheet, database, HyperStudio and slide show programs on Macintosh computers. Correct touch typing skills are stressed as the students learn to use Microsoft Word. Access to the Internet is provided following specific instruction. Since the Computers at our school are networked, the students will learn how to log on to a network using networking software.
Throughout this upcoming semester, the students will complete many projects allowing them to integrate their computers skills.
Students taking the Middle School Digital Media elective will be introduced to various basic digital media skills. They will learn how to use and understand basic computer related terms, identify digital media equipment and engage in basic word-processing skills which will include using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Students will learn how to become efficient Internet users with special attention to research techniques and online security. Basics of digital imaging will covered including digital photography techniques and fundamentals of Adobe Photoshop. The long term goals for this course are understanding legal, social, and ethical issues related to the use of digital media and the Internet in our daily lives. This course will prepare students for future technology courses in high school.
