Technology

At ACS information technology is an integral tool in teaching, learning, and daily operations. The integration of technology is a goal for teachers at all grade levels and in all curricular subjects.
Access to technology is provided in several ways. Computer labs exist for elementary and secondary technology courses. A library computer lab serves teachers who schedule time for their classes. Computer carts with laptop computers are available for teachers to reserve at the middle school and the high school. Multiple netbook computers have been placed in elementary classrooms for teachers to use with groups of students. Tablet computers have been introduced by several early adopter teachers in the high school in a program intended to test the impact of this medium as a new way to interact with students. Access to technology is also provided through digital projectors, digital cameras, digital video cameras, calculators, and probes that interface with software to enhance scientific investigations.
The technology standards at ACS have been adapted from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards that address what students should be able to know, understand, and be able to do in order to be productive digital citizens in the world now and as it changes.
